This creates new jobs and brings talent from all over the world to the Saarland.
On the historic site of the “Alte Schmelz” in St. Ingbert, CISPA Innovation Campus amalgamates the past with the future. The century-old walls of the former ironworks and adjoining workers’ housing estate will be home to a highly modern Innovation Campus, giving important impulses to the Saar economy. The historical buildings of the „Alte Schmelz“ will partly be refurbished and create, together with new buildings, new spaces for thought on approximately 25 acres. Public and private investors are teaming up with one another to provide funds of tens of millions of euros.
Apartments, culinary as well as cultural offerings along with a green infrastructure will make for a perfect combination of research, living and working.

By means of its groundbreaking research, CISPA attracts international companies as well as the most talented researchers from across the world. In 2022, for example, CISPA and Airbus Defence and Space announced their intention of working together. The CISPA Innovation Campus will become home to the "Airbus-CISPA Digital Innovation Hub," a center of excellence for cybersecurity and trusted artificial intelligence. In the long term, this will create more than 500 jobs in the region. Over the next three years, the first 100 professionals will settle on the CISPA Innovation Campus. In addition to Airbus, other companies have already expressed their interest in establishing themselves there.
With the aim of promoting the establishment of start-ups on the CISPA Innovation Campus, CISPA and the city of St. Ingbert will jointly establish a settlement and development company.
The core tasks of this company are the acquisition of land as well as the development of new use concepts. They also encompass the attraction of tenants on the one hand and the promotion of CISPA spin-offs on the other. The company is responsible for the coordination between all involved actors and prospective investors, tenants and other parties.
For the time being, both partners, CISPA and the city of St. Ingbert, have an equal share in the endeavor. The future involvement of other partners, such as the state or its subsidiaries, is not precluded.
CISPA and Airbus presented their recently launched collaboration and the Airbus-CISPA Digital Innovation Hub at the CISPA Innovation Campus to students, researchers and interested parties in the auditorium of Saarland University on November 30.
