In the funding schemes Starting, Consolidator or Advanced Grants, the European Research Council (ERC) funds outstanding individual scientists for a period of one to five years. Depending on the funding scheme, the funding amounts to between 1.5 and 2.5 million euros. The ERC Synergy Grant supports research teams of two to four promising scientists with a maximum of 10 million euros for up to six years. Researchers who have already secured one of the main grants can further apply for the Proof of Concept Grant, which provides 150.000 euros in supplementary funding for a period of 18 months.
