CISPA and Technical University of Munich start cooperation
It is the key objective of the collaboration to jointly research key issues in cybersecurity and trustworthy artificial intelligence, particularly facilitated through joint appointment processes and honorary professorships for leading CISPA scientists. In addition to their research, these professorships will contribute to expanding TUM's teaching in these fields. This institutional collaboration opens new perspectives in research and education for both institutions.
CISPA founding director and CEO Michael Backes said about the cooperation: „I am very pleased about this cooperation with the Technical University of Munich. Both parties are united by a common understanding of scientific excellence. Together with TUM, we will drive groundbreaking research in the fields of cybersecurity and trustworthy AI. I am convinced that early-career researchers will also benefit significantly from our collaboration. I thank the TUM President, my colleague Professor Dr. Thomas F. Hofmann, for the equally efficient and trusting discussions that have made this cooperation possible."
Professor Thomas F. Hofmann said: “For the success of innovative technologies, it is crucial that they are both understood and accepted by society. The advancements in artificial intelligence are fascinating, and their full impact on the economy and our lives is not yet entirely foreseeable. This makes it all the more important that we focus on sustainably controlling this technology and leveraging its benefits - without disregarding fears and concerns."
