Dr. Ali Abbasi to become new CISPA faculty member
"I am looking forward to working with many interesting colleagues at CISPA. I am a secret admirer of some of them, so I am very excited," says Ali Abbasi, who will join our center as a senior scientist in August.
His research straddles the line between computer software and hardware. "Mainly, I'm interested in peripheral security and hardware attacks that compromise software security and software attacks that compromise hardware security," explains the Iranian-born researcher.
After earning his PhD at the University of Twente and the Eindhoven University of Technology in 2017, Abbasi worked at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, first as a visiting researcher and later as a postdoctoral researcher on automated software testing for embedded systems and general-purpose computers.
The security researcher looks forward to his move to CISPA: "Anyone who is seriously involved in cybersecurity knows that there are only a few prominent cybersecurity research centers in Europe where cutting-edge research is conducted. CISPA is high on the list of such research centers, and I know the people who work there. I have often read their work."
