The past three years have flown by for Sara Starck. In the middle of the pandemic, she took on the challenge of being the first to complete an apprenticeship as an office clerk at the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security. She does not regret her decision, on the contrary: "CISPA is something unique and I am very happy to have done my training here," she says. For her trainer Andrea Haas, the three years they spent together also proved to be something very special: "Sara was our first apprentice and the training grew with her and because of her. I have already accompanied many apprentices, but rarely one as outstanding as her. We developed a lot of new ideas for the course together with her and she was always willing to get involved." Five young people are currently undergoing training as office management clerks at CISPA.
Starck particularly liked the corporate culture at CISPA. "From the very beginning, you feel like you are part of CISPA. There is a great sense of cohesion among the employees here. Working at CISPA is truly unique." But she was also fascinated by CISPA's focus: "It's great to be sensitized to the many challenges of cybersecurity through the work and to be aware of all the things that can happen and how to protect against them. Data protection, for example, plays an important role in the exam, and we are given special training in this area here at CISPA.” Her trainer Andrea Haas adds: “The training at CISPA is characterized by the fact that it is very comprehensive and that we can provide practical experience in all learning areas of the apprenticeship, which is often not the case in the field.
Apprentices at CISPA have the opportunity to work in ten different departments over a three-year period, from office, finance and human resources to corporate communications. A special feature is the bilingualism with German and English as equal languages at CISPA. Starck felt very well supported in this regard: "It was great that you could take English courses at CISPA during working hours. This way I was able to improve my English." For Haas, too, bilingualism is a decisive factor: "The international and multicultural nature of CISPA is a huge opportunity for anyone who is interested in working in an international environment. This is something that you don't often find in the job profile."
