“CISPA❤️St. Ingbert” beckons visitors to Alte Schmelz on September 16

At the public event “CISPA❤️St. Ingbert” on September 16, the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security will introduce itself to the citizens of St. Ingbert. On this occasion, CISPA and the city of St. Ingbert will also present their common plans for the future.

With a public event on September 16, 2023 in the “Industriekathedrale Alte Schmelz”, the city of St. Ingbert and the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security will jointly present themselves to the interested public. On this occasion, visitors from St. Ingbert and beyond will have the opportunity to learn about CISPA research and about the plans that CISPA and the city of St. Ingbert have for the future. The program items include information offers as well as entertainment for all age groups.

On the site of the “Alte Schmelz” in St. Ingbert, the CISPA Innovation Campus is already emerging as a center for CISPA spin-offs and start-ups. With the recent announcement that all CISPA researchers and employees will be brought together in St. Ingbert by 2027, founding director Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. Michael Backes and Lord Mayor Professor Dr. Ulli Meyer have taken the next step forward. “Together, we want to develop St. Ingbert into a leading location for the digital economy,” says Meyer, praising the cooperation. “CISPA's decision to move to St. Ingbert is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a quantum leap for the future of our city.”

The venue for the event has been chosen with care. On the “Alte Schmelz” site, the region's industrial past merges with the digital technologies of the future: “As a world-leading research center for cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, we want to take responsibility for structural change in Saarland and contribute to economic growth with our research,” Backes explains. “Our efforts to live up to our social responsibility are also demonstrated by our desire to bring our research results to society.”

“CISPA❤️St. Ingbert” will take place on September 16, starting at 2:00 p.m. with music by Bergkapelle on the CISPA Innovation Campus on the Alte Schmelz in St. Ingbert. The official opening will take place at 4:00 p.m. with speeches by Mayor Ulli Meyer, Minister President Anke Rehlinger and CISPA Director Michael Backes. A keynote speech by digital expert Thomas Sattelberger will highlight CISPA's role in the region's structural transformation. The event will also offer insights into CISPA's cybersecurity research, information on the services offered by the city of St. Ingbert, as well as a varied program for all age groups. This includes, for example, the CISPA Cysec Lab's Escape Room and various interactive exhibits. Many attractions for children, such as the “1, 2 oder 3 Show” with Piet Flosse as well as the childrens' program “Kids Express” promise to offer entertainment for an enjoyable afternoon. Three food trucks will be providing a great selection of street food.
