Nils Ole Tippenhauer ist Faculty am CISPA Helmholtz-Zentrum für Informationssicherheit und leitet dort die Forschungsgruppe SCy-Phy. Bis 2018 war er Assistant Professor an der Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Seinen Doktortitel in Informatik erwarb er 2012 an der ETH Zürich, wo er der Gruppe für Systemsicherheit unter der Leitung von Prof. Srdjan Capkun angehörte. Das Studium der Technischen Informatik an der Technischen Universität Hamburg schloss er 2007 als Diplom-Ingenieur ab. Im Rahmen seines Grundstudiums besuchte er von 2004-2005 die University of Waterloo, Ontario, unterstützt durch ein DAAD-Stipendium.
