Knowledge Transfer
At CISPA, we organize and participate in a variety of knowledge transfer activities. They range from public events and trade fairs to policy consultation and citizens' dialogues.
The CISPA Cysec Lab coordinates CISPA's student activities. We offer workshops for students from grade 7 onward as well as further training for teachers and trainee teachers. We also offer regular working groups for particularly interested and talented students. We opened the laboratory at our new premises in St. Ingbert on September 1, 2020. Bookings for workshop days are always possible.
The workshops we offer at the school laboratory are developed in close cooperation with CISPA researchers. They are based on CISPA research in IT security and data protection and we carefully adapt them to meet the needs and interests of our target groups.
At the student lab, we put great emphasis on practical work and experiments. Our interactive workshops give students the opportunity to acquire new skills, offering them the freedom to experiment with and apply the things they have learned. We encourage students to work independently, while our instructors and student assistants are always available for support.

CISPA maintains close contact with university students in the field of cybersecurity. CISPA researchers, for example, supervise student projects and theses. Students can also work with our scientists as research assistants. We support them in finding their area of expertise and help them sharpen their scientific profile. Thus, they are well prepared for a doctorate or a scientific career at CISPA.
We focus not only on university level education. To raise awareness of IT security research as early as possible, we also offer a variety of activities for school classes at our student laboratory, the CISPA Cysec Lab.
Hosting scientific events on a regular basis, we provide international students and young researchers with many opportunities for further education and exchange with our scientists. These events are dedicated not only to the transfer of knowledge. Participants are also encouraged to share their own work and discuss it in an interactive setting.
As part of our knowledge transfer activities, we regularly organize free events for interested members of the public with the aim of bringing cybersecurity knowledge to everyone. Organizing a variety of formats including the Summer of Cybersecurity, the Open Days, the Roadshow and many more, we offer lectures on the latest CISPA research, interactive workshops relevant to everyday life, exhibits that provide insights into a variety of exciting research areas as well as panel discussions that offer different angles on cybersecurity topics.
Our citizen science projects give students and interested members of the public an insight into real cybersecurity research.
In the course of a project, participants carry out specific tasks, making valuable contributions to our research - and learning many things about cybersecurity in the process. If you have any questions, please contact us at citizen-science@cispa.de.
