Onboarding at CISPA: How it works
Dr. Michael Schwarz is a tenure-track Faculty at CISPA. He conducts research on CPU security. His goal is to "make the world a safer place." Schwarz came to Saarbrücken from Graz in 2020. He is excited about the many great colleagues with whom there are always opportunities for new collaborations. "CISPA is a great place to do research. Because of the support of the onboarding team, you can fully concentrate on research because you don't have to deal with all the paperwork," says Schwarz. Specifically, Michael Schwarz and his partner received support in finding housing, for example. This was a great help, especially during the pandemic. In addition, they also successfully arranged a job for Schwarz's partner.
Dr. Rayna Dimitrova is also tenure-track faculty at CISPA and, like her colleague Schwarz, came to Saarbrücken in 2020 during the pandemic. Her research area is formal methods. Among other things, she develops verification tools. Unlike Schwarz, Dimitrova's workplace is in the CISPA building in Sankt Ingbert. What she appreciates about CISPA, besides the fantastic support in the research area, is "the help with all kinds of administrative issues." With the help of the onboarding team, she found an apartment in Saarbrücken that she was able to move into immediately upon arrival. For Dimitrova, Saarbrücken is just the right size: "I really like the fact that it's very easy to get from one place to another on foot." Since she already completed her master's and PhD in Saarbrücken, the new start at CISPA was a little more like coming home.
