Short Bio

Katharina is currently tenure-track faculty member at CISPA and head of the Usable Security Group, Empirical and Behavioral Security Research Area.

Before that, she was senior researcher at SBA Research. She completed her PhD in November 2016 with distinction. She also received a master’s degree in Media Informatics from TU Wien in 2012.

In this lecture, you will learn about human-centric aspects of IT security. Besides research and design methods, you will learn about hot topics in usable security such as authentication, encryption and privacy.

Seminar: Designing Usable Security

The goal of this seminar is to understand usable security challenges based on user studies from scientific literature, identify the design space based on these studies and propose potential design approaches for user-friendly security and privacy technology.
