I am Faculty at the Helmholtz Center for Information Security (CISPA) in Saarbrücken, Germany, and lead the System Security research group. I also hold a professorship from the CS department of Saarland University. From 2014 until 2016, I was an Independent Research Group leader at the Cluster of Excellence MMCI at Saarland University. Before, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the VU Amsterdam (Herbert Bos) and the Ruhr University Bochum (Thorsten Holz). Before my postdoctoral stays, I worked at the Institute for Internet Security if(is) in Gelsenkirchen, Germany and obtained my PhD degree from the VU Amsterdam in April 2013. My primary research centers on in these areas: Cyber Threats (e.g., malware), Network Security and Privacy, Program Analysis and Attack Traceback.
